  • Fresh eating
  • Sauce
  • Paste
  • Roasting
  • Canning
  • Drying
  • Freezing

Store your tomatoes at room temperature. The flavor and texture of tomatoes suffer when the fruit is chilled.

Heirloom tomatoes are bred for their flavor and simple preparation best allows that intense flavor to shine through. Tomatoes can be sliced and drizzled with olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and salt and pepper or layer slices with basil and mozzarella for a Caprese salad.

Roasted tomatoes have a richer, concentrated flavor.

There are hundreds of salsa recipes to try and most are dramatically improved with the use of heirloom tomatoes. Tomatoes are also the main ingredient in Gazpacho, a cold soup that is perfect for summer.

Growing Instructions

Instructions - Sow seeds indoors ¼" deep. Tomatoes are sensitive to freezing temperatures, so wait to transplant outdoors until the soil is warm. Plant in full sun.

  • Start Indoors: 6 weeks before last frost
  • Germination: 7-14 Days
  • Plant Outdoors: 24-36” Apart
  • Support: Cage, stake, or trellis

Delicious & Bountiful

These sweetly delicious fruits are excellent in Salads & Sweet Salsas. Grows well in pots. Very good producer. Has been made a staple in my garden. I also have not had issue with tomato hornworms with variety.

Incredible flavor, super productive, and beautiful

I'm completely wow-ed by the flavor of these delicious little tomatoes. They're basically as productive as my sungolds (though about 2 weeks later), and the two are closely tied for flavor for me. These have an incredible smoky, rich, almost wine like flavor, great for raw eating or for salsa, rich tomato sauces, roasting, you name it. Fruit are good size too compared to other smaller cherries. Plants are also vigorous and healthy, have withstood intense daytime heat and cold nights here in coastal California 9b. These are going to be a staple for us from now on, going to plant twice as many next year!

Black cherry tomato

Plants are very healthy looking 10 feet tall growing in a container with lots of tomatos on them. Requires staking and tying to keep growing up. Still flowering and plant dark green in late August in Pennsylvania. Beautiful cherry tomato with a sweet flavor. If you can only grow one cherry this is the one I would pick. If you love cherry tomatoes but haven’t tried this one, it is a definite addition I would add to your garden in the future.. I love the taste of this tomato it is so good and also pretty when you cut in in half.

Prolific, even with only morning sun

I planted an extra Black Cherry Tomato in our front yard as a test to see if it would do well with only 4 hrs morning sun. It has done better than any other tomato this year, taken over my front yard! Prolific, ripening before any others, and still producing. Giving them away there are so many. No issues with pests or disease, and seemingly drought resistant as I rarely water it.

Great Pick

This was my first year growing any tomatoes and these were the first to ripen and very vigorous growers and great taste. I will grow these next year for sure.

Lots of cherries!

As others mentioned, great producer of beautiful fruit. Excellent germination rate. Flavor profile is just okay, as some may be flavorless or sour whole others have a deep flavor of a purple cherry tomato. Great for roasting and drying.

Never fail

Easy to grow, prolific, and delicious. The trifecta.

Heavy producer, but taste just ok

Black cherry is very good producer, strong healthy plants, doesn’t crack too easy. But flavor is surprisingly blend for heirloom tomato.

Super flavorful, firm, and excellent producer

This is my absolute most favorite cherry tomato. It has a robust flavor, produces very well, and is very easy to grow. I love it so much that I usually grow two of these versus one of everything else, and this is the only one I grow repeatedly year after year, no question. The fruit is plump and beautiful in any salad or other recipe where it's freshly eaten.

Germination issues

I am experienced in germination and run a pretty tight ship when it comes to my germination set up. I am currently growing over a dozen other varieties of tomatoes and had great germination , however these tomatoes and one other from seed savers in the same controlled environment same time produced 0% germination. And I always plant two spaced seeds per cell to account for degrees of germination rates and maximizing success I would say I did something wrong here but I monitor everything from depth , temperature , air , lighting , watering, soil ect and the seed savers brand is the only ones that didn’t sprout . So not sure what happened here. I usually have pretty good rates from these guys and my other tomatoes from seed savers sprouted no problem! (Minus 1 other)

Seed Savers Response: Hi Kimberly, I'm sorry to hear that this seed did not germinate. We do test germination every year to make sure only the best seed leaves our location. Please reach out to our customer service team to be sent a replacement for this seed.

Heavy producer

This is my first year growing this variety, and I'm very happy with this variety. Heavy producer!

Soooo good, love them, need more seeds please!

Gave me sour puss

The Black Cherry were sometimes sour last summer. In previous years, that was a problem in fall. I Only have room for and need of one cherry tomato vine, so I am going with the more versatile Tommy Toe.
