Another family favorite from SSE!
by Jensine
This year I bought several new lettuces from SSE to try. I grow this Red Velvet lettuce in my greenhouse, direct sown in March and just harvesting now in May. It is just as the name sounds! Like red velvet. I love it. It's a delicate lettuce, certainly not has stiff as a romaine but so delicious mixed into a salad. Great color, didn't attract any pests and held up well to below-freezing temps many nights. A new family fave!
Fantastic variety!

Gorgeous variety! Like the description, I found it slow to bolt and couldn’t keep up with picking it in our SE WI garden. Pleasant, mild flavor and it added a real pop of color to our mixed greens salads.
