Dragon Carrot

This carrot’s beautiful red-purple exterior provides a striking contrast to its yellow-orange interior and light yellow core. A treat for the eye when sliced, its sweet, almost spicy, flavor makes this carrot a home gardener’s favorite and a best-seller at specialty and farmers’ markets. Considered the most refined purple carrot available, it was bred by Seed Savers Exchange member John Navazio.

Bloomsdale Spinach

Developed in 1874 by D. Landreth & Sons seed company of Philadelphia. Vigorous upright plants with dark green, glossy, savoyed leaves. Fine quality, very tender, excellent flavor. Quick growing variety with heavy yields. Well adapted for late spring or summer plantings, slow to bolt.

Gill's Golden Pippin Squash

This flavorful acorn squash may be among the first to show up on your table each fall. The fruits of this historic variety produce flesh that is pale orange, moderately sweet in flavor, and a bit variable in shape. Its vining plants are quite productive and yield relatively early-maturing fruits that measure 4-5" long and 3½ -4" wide, and weigh 1-1 ½ pounds. Gill Brothers introduced the variety in 1952.

Blondkopfchen Tomato

(aka Little Blonde Girl) East German variety obtained by Seed Savers Exchange from Gatersleben Seed Bank. Small golden yellow 1" fruits borne in giant clusters, excellent sweet taste. Enormous yields and rarely a cracked fruit. Bears until frost.

Tom Thumb Pea

At 8" tall, this aptly named dwarf pea is ideal for container gardening and is very frost-tolerant. Originating in England and introduced in the United States in the mid-19th century, there were several strains of this variety; over time, further reductions in height and time to maturity were achieved, leading to the pea we know as Tom Thumb today.
