Romance Lettuce
Item Details
The Exchange community has loved this lush, green romaine lettuce for decades—and with good reason! Its head-forming leaves are thick yet tender, taste slightly sweet, and have a buttery texture and a crisp, juicy midrib. Its striking, slightly toothed outer leaves develop a broad end with a bit of waviness. Uniform plants have well-developed, elliptical heads; plants reach 8.3-10.5" tall and 13.3-15.8" in diameter at maturity, with leaves measuring 9-10.5" long and 4.3 to 6" wide. Seed Savers Exchange purchased this mid-season-maturing variety from the Cook’s Garden seed company sometime in the 1980s. It’s been shared through the Exchange by more than a dozen gardeners since the mid 1980s.
