French Breakfast Radish
(aka Radis Demi-long Rose a Bout Blanc) A very early market garden radish of French origin. Listed by J.M. Thorburn & Co of New York in 1870. Oblong and blunt, rose-scarlet with a white tip. White crisp flesh with a mildly pungent flavor. Sow in the spring or fall and pick when small.

Radishes are mostly eaten raw, sliced or diced and added to salads. You can also serve them as an appetizer with dip or hummus or sliced on buttered bread.
The leaves of radish plants are edible and can be boiled to improve the texture.
When storing radishes, make sure to clip their tops so that the roots will last longer in storage.
Instructions - Sow seeds outdoors as soon as soil can be worked in spring. Plant in full sun. Successive plantings can be made every 3-4 weeks throughout summer and fall to provide a continual harvest.

Best radish variety - hands down!
I've tried a lot of other spring radishes over the years, but nothing beats this one. It's always surprisingly slow to bolt (in my opinion). I always get a really huge harvest of this, and end up having to pickle most of it.
I even get good roots from these radishes with my incredibly tough clay soil in Southern Wisconsin.
Easy and fast to grow

These are easy and fast to grow. In AZ there are very hot summers, so these do best in november- end of march( for sweet radishes). I was able to harvest in just about 2 months! I have planted these in containers and they do well because they are longer than most radishes. The flavor is delicious and they are quite good pickled! The leaves are edible but make sure to saute if you don't like the fuzzy.
Best radish I've grown
Best radish I've grown. Great germination, grows fast and large. Roots mainly developed above ground, so they were very easy to harvest. Also grew well in semi compacted soil. Execent mild taste. Tops are also very edible. These will definitely be my main radish crop.
Tender and sweet.
These are the best radishes I've grown over the years. Never peppery. Long enough so that I harvest more radish per square inch. Very juicy. Great as a snack.
A New Favorite
Planted these for the first time this year and will every year from now on. They were very quick to produce, the leaves are 30% to 50% smaller than other varieties so they can be planted more densely in square foot or standing bed gardens. Even people who find most radishes to be too peppery love these.

I didn't even know I liked radishes until I grew these! They are so fast to grow, and they are the nicest breakfast snack while I'm tooling around the garden. Lovely, crunchy texture, a lightly peppery bite, and so tender! They did get woody once summer hit here, but I will grow these fall through spring every year!
