Verte Mar Lettuce
Item Details
This romaine lettuce boasts big, sweet, crisp, and slightly crinkled leaves that are sure to please any palate. A French variety, ‘Verte Mar’ forms a solid, elliptic head on slow-bolting plants that grow 10.5-13.5" tall and 14.5-17" wide. Dark-green leaves measure 10.2-12.2" long and 5-7" wide, are oblanceolate-shaped (or attached to the stem by the pointed end), and have a slightly toothed margin. This variety stood out in the 2015 Seed Savers Exchange lettuce evaluation for its sweetness and crispness. SSE acquired it from the late Mary Schultz, an SSE member and Exchange lister from Washington.
